NOTICE OF CHANGE

SCDCA has changed the renewal date on closing fees to January 31, 2009. Doc Fees are set to expire on July 1, 2008. In order to allow dealers to continue to lawfully charge the closing fee on contracts, the Depatment is imposing a one-time extension fee of $10.00 to extend the certification date through January 31, 2009. Dealers must renew before or on January 31, 2009, to continue to charge closing fees. During this period, dealers who have not previously filed for a doc fee or wish to increase their dollar amount, must submit one of the below forms with a $10.00 fee. This filing, like the extension, will expire on January 31, 2009 and must be renewed before on on this date. Renewal filing forms will be mailed in November 2008.

Every motor vehicle dealer charging closing fees on a motor vehicle sales contract shall pay a one-time registration fee each state fiscal year to the Department of Consumer Affairs. The registration fee is $10.00.
